The cable car connects Thankot
VDC in the Kathmandu Valley with the historical hill, Chandragiri, above
Kirtipur Municipality through a short trip of around 10 minutes. The single
length of the cable car project would be of around two and half kilometers
beginning from near Godam at Thankot.
According to the owners
of the cable car project- Kathmandu Fun Park, Bhaleshwor Mahadev, Chandragiri
View Tower, and Chandragiri resort will also be operated along with the Chandragiri
cable car.
Chandragiri has always
been appealing. The mesmerizing view of the Kathmandu Valley which Prithvi
Narayan Shah got from the top of the Chandragiri hill was what made him want to
take over the valley. The greenery and ambient atmosphere adds more of peaceful
environment suitable for refreshing and revitalizing our tired mind and body. The
beautiful hill is also rich in flora and fauna. Chandragiri is still as
beautiful as it was during the reign of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
What it always lacked was
promotion and good accessibilty. Fewer people reached at the top for lack of
good road facility and hotel services till date though Chitlang, one of the
nearest village of Chandragiri. The Chandragiri cable car project is set to end
such misery of Chandragiri sooner rather than later, and bring forth tremendous
tourism potentials in its proximity.
The Chandragiri cable car
can provide a lot of alternative travel destinations to people of Kathmandu.Manakamana
cable car is the only cable car in Nepal till date. Chadragiri cable car is
near to becoming the second cable car project in the nation Due to lack of acessibilty
in other destinations, places like Nagarkot and chobhar(with good acessibilty)
used to be the major weekend gateways for people of Kathmandu and neighboring
districts. With the introduction of cable car at Chadragiri, such compulsion on
people of Kathmandu is set to be terminated. It can also emerge as top picnic
spot in the valley.
The picture above shows the cable car being operated for testing in the Chandragiri of Kathmandu district. The project can boost the tourism scope of kathmandu valley which had been weakened by the devastating earthquake back in April 2015.
